Philosophy of Worship

Worship is all people coming together to experience, respond to, and grow in Jesus' love.

This philosophy of worship, along with our four foundations, helps shape and form our worship life at Immanuel.

  • all people - Life-long believers, new Christians, and those who are still searching; adults, teens and children are all welcome in worship at Immanuel.
  • coming together - Our gathering together to worship as a Christian community identifies who we are and why we exist as a church.
  • to experience - We don't just attend worship, we experience worship - through hugs and touch, through the elements of the sacraments, through kneeling, visuals, and our God-given emotions. We also experience new learnings, insights, and understandings.
  • respond to - Once we experience the love of Jesus, we respond! We respond by confessing, praising, singing, and offering back the gifts we've been given. We also respond with petition and supplication, bringing out needs and requests in prayer when we have realized God's mercy.
  • and grow in - We grow in the coming together, in the experience, in our response and in studying God's Word and applying it to our daily lives.
  • Jesus' love - It's Jesus Christ, "Immanuel, God With Us" whom we worship and who forms this community of faith into the Body of Christ and makes us one. It takes many individuals working together for worship to happen. Opportunities to support Sunday worship at Immanuel abound!
