Vision Statement: Individuals and the community of faith growing toward wholeness in body, mind and spirit, and reaching out with the love of Christ to those in need.
Mission Statement: The Human Care Ministry Team of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church is dedicated to practice Christian love toward those in need. We propose to demonstrate this love through visitation programs, advocacy programs, and education programs that emphasize preventive health and systematic care of the body, mind and spiritual needs of our congregation and the wider community around us.
Human care, or Christian caring for people in various needs, is done by pastors, elders, parish nurse, and lay members of Immanuel. People in the congregation may be troubled by spiritual needs, mental or emotional disturbance, personal or family difficulties, or crisis of health. Pastors and elders visit shut-in members with a message, prayer, and the Sacrament.
The St. Matthew's Medical Clinic has opened! This free health clinic held at Immanuel is for those in need who would otherwise not receive primary health care. Patients are evaluated by a physician or other medical provider and an individualized plan is made for disease management, testing for symptom investigation or simply preventative health care. The clinic is currently being held one Thursday evening a month by appointment only. Please call 970-624-3425 for information on when the next clinic will be held and/or to schedule an appointment.
Compassionate Friends, a team of caring and committed invididuals, also visit those who would otherwise not join the congregation at worship.
Extended Care Chapel Teams conduct monthly Sunday services, approximately 1/2 hour, at several nursing homes in Loveland.
Through the Elders' Assistance Fund the church meets emergency funding needs of members and also folks who come from the community for assistance.
Our Parish Nurse, MarJean Carpenter, gives counsel, teaches the relation between faith and health, serves as health advocate, and enlists and trains volunteers to help with home care and visits. Regular blood pressure checks, flut shot clinics, blood donation days and health fairs are provided
Celebrate Recovery assists people with harmful "hurts, hangups, and habits" in small 12-step groups. This ministry team meets Saturday evening at 6:30 to help people with addictions, anger issues, family distress and other problems.
Stephen Ministry trains volunteers for one-one ministry of support for those struggling spiritually with life burdens and crises. More information about the Stephen Ministry program is available at their website. Also, the PBS "Religion and Ethics" news show recently aired an eight-minute feature on Stephen Ministry.
Ministry Meals arranges for food to be delivered to people just discharged from the hospital, mothers with new babies, and others who have a need.
A core Ministry Human Care Team meets regularly to plan, coordinate and develop Immanuel's human care ministries. Immanuel exercises care for its own members and also does outreach. There is a climate that fosters spontaneous caring for others by Immanuel's members, besides the planned and organized efforts. Immanuel cares!
