Men's Movie Night

Now Showing:

 ???????

We've wrapped up our season and will take a break until things pick back up again in September. If you'd like to get on the email list so you are notified as to when we're starting up again and what the movies are that we'll be watching and discussing, please contact Pastor Glen and he'll add you to the group!

What are Men's Movie Nights?

Throughout the year on Wednesday nights, a bunch of men get together at Immanuel to watch movies. Sound like fun? This is now our fourth year of doing this.

Here’s how Men’s Movie Nights work:
  • Each week we meet in the sanctuary/worship center at 6:00
  • We take 2-3 weeks to watch a movie, depending on the length, as we watch about 50-55 minutes each week.
  • Once the movie is done, we spend one week talking about it, making some application to our lives, make some Biblical connections, and de-briefing on what we watched.
And that’s it. It’s a casual setting, no pressure, sit where you want, bring supper in with you if you want (or popcorn, if that’s what you need to watch a movie!), and just enjoy. It doesn’t get much better than getting together with a bunch of guys and watching some good “guy movies,” on a big screen with big sound!!

If you’re interested, just come. You don’t have to RSVP. You don’t have to be a member at Immanuel. This is open to any men who want to come. So feel free to bring a friend or co-worker with you, too.

I’ll be up front, we don’t watch anything beyond PG-13 but even with that there is violence, shooting, death, crashes, and occasional objectionable language. However, all the movies have some powerful themes that are worth talking about, especially for us as Christian men.

Last year we’ve watched “The Blind Side,” "Invictus," "Facing the Giants," "Iron Man 2," "Avatar," and "Glory Road."

This year we watched "Inception," "The 5th Quarter," "Unstoppable," "Limitless," "Captain America: The First Avenger," "Moneyball," "Courageous," and "Thor."

There’s more going on at Immanuel on Wednesdays (including supper for a small cost) and if you want more info, just give me a call, drop me an email, or stop in the church office. Or check it out here.

So get Wednesday nights on your calendar for some fun, relaxing, at times intense, guy time! I hope to see you at the movies!
